On-Line Academic Resources

Please use the link above to get a peek inside the textbooks the kids are using
at school. It also points out the important vocabulary students need to learn for the
stories in the book.

A good place to start is by clicking on the "Big Question Multimedia"
under "Activities for Students" or on left side task bar, which has some fun videos and links for kids that are tied to the grade level textbooks.

Parent Involvement

We welcome parent involvement at Willows Intermediate School. Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education generally are more successful in school and in life.

You have many opportunities to become involved in your student's education through:
  • Parent conferences
  • Back to School Night
  • Open House
  • Parent Booster Club
  • English Language Advisory Meetings
  • School Site Council
  • Parent volunteer participation
  • Fall magazine drive
  • 8th grade graduation fundraisers

Please visit the school office any time and stay in touch with your student's teachers -- see the Staff Directory for phone numbers and e-mail addresses.

Student Handbook
The WIS Student Handbook is designed to help familiarize you with our school. It contains all the basic information you will need on policies and procedures at the school. A copy is given to each student, and teachers will guide students through it during the first week of school. We also encourage parents to read it carefully and refer to it often.

Harvest of the Month

The goals of the Harvest of the Month program are to promote reading and to increase enjoyment and consumption of fruits and vegetables. In an effort to motivate students to make healthy choices, they have an opportunity to taste and explore the featured fruit or vegetable of the month during class and/or lunch. Each month participating teachers and librarians receive food-themed books in order to present stories to the students during their tasting adventure. Visit www.harvestofthemonth.com for more information.
