Getting to Know Me
I was born and raised in Glenn County, and graduated from Orland High School in 1998.  During my high school career I played volleyball for four years, was an active member of the Orland FFA chapter.  My FFA activities included livestock judging, parliamentary procedure, BIG, and many other activities at the local level.  Prior to joining the FFA I was a 4-H member, where I began raising market pigs.  In 1987 my sister and I became partners in "Pink Lady Pigs".  We raised and exhibited our own project pigs, as well as selling them to local 4-H members.  As we grew up, the project transferred over to our SAE project.  Through this project, and other work experience I was able to earn my American FFA Degree.  Although my sister and I grew up and moved out, our project still remains.  We currently have 12-15 sows and farrow year round.  We also have a small breeding beef enterprise and a few head of Boer goats.

After graduating from high school, I attended Butte Community College for two years before transferring to CSU Chico.  I graduated from Chico State in 2002 earning my bachelors degree in the Agriculture with an option in Integrated Animal Systems (animal science).  During my senior year of college I was asked to help an FFA member out with a swine project, and quickly learned I loved to work with the students, so I loaded up my course schedule with agriculture education courses and entered the credential program.  After completing my teaching credential, I continued my education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo earning a Masters Degree in Agriculture Education.

I have also had the opportunity to work in agriculture industry.  During my high school years I worked at Orange Blossom Packing, after school, cleaning up the packing house and maintaining equipment.  During school breaks, I was able to work on the line packing oranges.  In college I worked for the Glenn County Agriculture Commissioner developing the Glenn County Olive Fruit Fly Trapping program, working the Pest Detection routes (trapping bugs), and helped them convert crop maps to a computerized program.  My work experience really helped me to find some direction and focus in my college career.

My teaching career began at Elk Creek High School   August of 2003.  In August of 2007 I started teaching at Willows High School.  I am excited to work with all of the students and help them to reach their full potential.
