Three Honkers swimmers earn All-Section ~ Willows-Journal.com ~ 11.8.11

Freshman Molly Bateman was named to the girls first-team All-Northern Section swim team for her performance at the Masters Meet on Oct. 29. The Honker's lone senior this year, Kasey Foley, earned a spot on the boys second team, and Veronica Foley, another freshman, was named to the girls second team All-Section.

The team might not have many members but Willows High took home several medals at the Northern Section Masters Swim Meet on Saturday.

Freshman Molly Bateman took home the silver in the girls 100-yard butterfly well ahead of the third place finisher. Bateman (1:01.13) was a close second to the champion, Chico High's Maddie Johnson (1:00.88). Bateman narrowly missed her second silver in the 100-yard backstroke. Pleasant Valley's Keely Johnson (1:02.20) took that spot ahead of Bateman (1:02.22). The Honkers' lone senior, Kasey Foley, snagged a bronze in the boys 50-yard freestyle in 23.2 seconds and took sixth in the 100-freestyle (52.42).

The Honkers' Veronica Foley, also a freshman, took fifth in the girls 100-butterfly (1:04.53) after Pleasant Valley senior Maddie Gray touched the wall a hundredth of a second before. Foley (59.69) added a seventh place finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Noah Parham was the fastest freshman in the boys 100-yard fly, taking eight overall with a time of 1:00.57. Parham also took 14th in the 100-yard breast stroke (1:13.79). Jazmin Hernandez earned eighth place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:25.02.
