Willows High's Kaylen Wilson faced a familiar opponent in the opening round of the Northern Section Girls Tennis Championships on Saturday but the result remained the same. Wilson played Sacramento Valley League champion Lucero Topete of Live Oak High and lost 6-0, 6-0. "She has a hard time with (Topete), I think it's more mental with her and it's not that the girl is intimidating, (Wilson) just can't figure her game out." coach Don Byrd said. With the loss, Wilson was eliminated from the tournament after earning All-SVL honors in her senior season.
