The Willows Unified School District takes pride in reflecting the importance and priority of the Willows community as we provide quality educational opportunities for our students.  In each of our schools, the quality of our standards-based programs provides the foundation for exceptional educational experiences. The Willows Unified School District provides for the interests and needs of our students through diverse opportunities including: English Language Development, special education, college preparation, vocal and instrumental music, Regional Opportunity Program coursework, technology education, and an array of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

WUSD also offers differing instructional settings and philosophies which enable students and parents to find the learning environment in which the student can achieve greatest success. Besides our regular, comprehensive programs and school sites, our Independent Study Program and the Willows Community High School both provide varied instructional strategies to aid in students' achievement and success.

I believe our staff members and our supportive community make a huge difference in our students' lives. The WUSD teaching staff, support employees and managers, parents, and community partners are invested in our children. A broad cross-section of stakeholders participated in helping our Board set the District's mission, vision, and goals.  These very important components of our District's on-going improvement and planning processes have helped our Board appropriately set our priorities, which further define our district's core values and beliefs.

The Willows community has supported the Willows Unified School District in maintaining a forward-thinking educational focus and refinement during this current California Fiscal Crisis that we are all experiencing. Our employee groups have assisted the District in reducing cost commitments, and parent volunteer and booster groups have provided significant support for facility upgrades as well as maintenance of our co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. All of these efforts have supported improvements within our school system and promoted our students' continued growth and success.

I am honored to be the Superintendent in the Willows Unified School District and to have the opportunity to work with our outstanding employees and very supportive community members.  While the work that we all undertake is difficult and challenging, it is also meaningful and rewarding, and it has a great impact on our students' success.  During these unpredictable and uncertain fiscal times in public education, now, more than ever, we must all work together to make a commitment and contribution to our students' future.  In our schools, at home, and at work, I welcome your participation in this effort.

As always, feel free to contact me or any of our staff members if you have questions, comments, or concerns.

Mort Geivett, Ed.D.
